AroundColorado.com is a community-supported diary of Colorado adventure — a growing collection of trip reports built by people who love Colorado adventure. Some of us are locals. Some of us wish we were locals. Yet, we all have one thing in common — we love to share our experiences with the world. If you identify with our passion, and can produce quality trip reports, you are invited to be a part of the AroundColorado.com team. Trip Report contributors are selected and/or approved by the editors, in order to maintain a high level of quality that makes this website so unique.

Please read the rest of this page to learn about our contributor guidelines. We've spelled it all out, to ensure that the quality and consistency is maintained. It should go without saying that you should first familiarize yourself with the adventures published on this website, so that you understand the kind of trip reports that we publish. Please use the "Contact Us" button at the bottom of the page if you have any questions. Thank you for your interest in becoming an important part of our team. Currently, we're all doing this just for fun! There is no compensation for contributing to AroundColorado.com. Someday, if we get paid, we'll share the wealth.

What does AroundColorado.com cover?

This website covers a wide variety of Colorado "adventures." The term is used loosely on this website, due the the varying interests and make-up of our audience. Climbing, hiking and backpacking are the most popular activities for our trip reports. We are absolutely open to other adventurous activities. Each adventure account provides readers a first hand, "trip report" style review of the adventure — along with photographs whenever possible.

What are your contributor qualifications?

1) You have the desire to be a part of a high-quality Colorado guide that features above-average photography and insightful features.

2) You can write about your experiences in such a way that educates and entertains an audience of locals, visitors and other Colorado enthusiasts.

3) You have a passion for taking photographs of your adventure experiences, and have the ability to capture the essence of the scenery, people and the adventure experience with photographic images.

4) And, of course, you have a passion for experiencing and sharing the endless adventure that Colorado has to offer. If this is you, we'd love to have you join us! Contact Us if you are interested in joining the team and contributing trip reports.

Additional Questions:

Will my adventure appear on the home page?

The editors of this website will determine which adventures will be spotlighted (and for how long) on the home page. Not all adventures will be spotlighted on the home page, for various reasons unrelated to your specific adventure. ALL accepted adventures will appear in the adventure collection, under the appropriate category and will appear on the "What's New?" page.

Can I contribute older adventures?

Ideally, all adventure articles should be submitted fairly soon after the adventure takes place. However, older adventures will be accepted, in order to build a well-rounded Colorado adventure collection. Please keep in mind, submissions that are not current will not be considered for a home page spotlight. Older adventures will be included in the adventure collection, and be mentioned on the "What's New?" page.

Will I be compensated for submitting?

Currently, AroundColorado.com does not make any profit from operation. Therefore, financial compensation cannot be offered at this time. However, you will benefit from exposure, from having your work published and from knowing that you're an important part of one of the most useful and entertaining Colorado resources online. Your adventure feature will be read by thousands, and possibly millions, of people as the website grows in content and popularity. Your adventure(s) will be a permanent part of the AroundColorado.com collection.

What are my rights (the fine print)?

Your adventure submission grants AroundColorado.com non-exclusive rights to publish your submitted trip reports and photographs on this website indefinitely. You retain all rights to all original articles and photographs, and are free to publish them elsewhere. Your articles and photographs cannot be reproduced in any other manner by the owners of AroundColorado.com, without prior consent and appropriate compensation. The AroundColorado.com adventure format cannot be duplicated anywhere else, whether in print or online. All original materials are protected by U.S. copyright laws. Any personal information is kept strictly confidential.
